Hoff-Barthelson Music School
Founded in 1944, Hoff-Barthelson Music School (HBMS) is one of the country’s premier community music schools. From its campus in Scarsdale, New York, it serves over 1,000 students annually in Westchester and its surrounding areas. HBMS’ flute ensembles, which include the Junior Flutes, Adult Flute Choir, and Flute Club, perform in the school’s major festivals and the annual Flute Plus event, now in its 47th year.
Competition
The competition called for a new work for flute choir between 5 and 7 minutes long. The instrumentation is to include piccolo, concert flutes in three parts, alto flute, and bass flute, with parts ranging in difficulty from early intermediate to advanced players.
